Buckingham Vinters joins forces with Maison Maurel Vedeau

Buckingham Vintners is pleased to announce the addition of outstanding French producer, Maison Maurel Vedeau to its portfolio. Based in the Languedoc, Maison Maurel Vedeau is a young and dynamic company dedicated to the preservation of the best the Pays d'OC has to offer. It produces a diverse range of wines, from varietal Vins de Pays to top quality AOCs, which all share the aim of combining pure varietal characteristics with a true expression of individual vineyards' terroirs.

Maison Maurel Vedeau was established in 1992 by winemaker Stéphane Vedeau and St Chinian producer Philippe Maurel. Stéphane continues to run the business and make the wine today, and it is his exceptional talent and exacting standards which drive the superb quality of the wines produced. His work starts in the vineyard. Maurel Vedeau own a series of parcels where cutting-edge viticulture produces grapes that convey their individual terroirs, but Stéphane and his team also work closely with local growers to ensure that the grapes are perfectly suited to the wines he makes. These growers are linked to MMV by long-term contracts which allow them to lower yields and focus on the quality of the grapes they grow.

In the winery, Stéphane's approach is best described as single-mindedly flexible. He utilises a huge range of modern vinification techniques to develop precise varietal characteristics which maximize the varietal fruit while remaining faithful to traditional local styles, including cold maceration, triage, micro-oxygenation, controlled extraction, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel or oak and carbonic maceration. Particularly outstanding are the dedication to quality and advanced wine-making techniques which go into even the entry-level wines.
