Buckingham Vintners Takes On New French Winery
Leading UK wine agent Buckingham Vintners is pleased to announce that it is representing French winery Maison François Martenot with immediate effect. François Martenot is a highly successful négociant business which offers a huge variety of wines at every price point from across France. It is remarkable for the breadth of its product offering, its flexible approach and its value for money. Buckingham Vintners' French portfolio now includes Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Rhône, Provence and Languedoc-Rousillon.
This new relationship comes as the Schenk Group enters into a strategic alliance with French wine group Tresch to create a combined French operation which can offer a fantastic depth of wines from across the breadth of France. The wines made available by this combined operation will be handled by François Martenot, and imported by Buckingham Vintners.
Graham Sumeray, Managing Director of Buckingham Vintners, comments:
“Our close relationship with the Schenk Group has been hugely successful over the years and we are very excited to be working with François Martenot. This extension to our portfolio enables us to offer a full range of French wines while maintaining the exceptional service and value which are so key to our customers and at which Schenk excels.”
NOTES FOR EDITORS
- Schenk has ceded control of Beaune-based négociant-éleveur Maison François Martenot to Tresch in exchange for a stake in the Tresch operation. As a result of this the turnover of Tresch will represent approximately 80 million euros. François Martenot represents approximately a quarter of this, of which 50% is export business.
- Buckingham Vintners was also recently appointed as agent for Languedoc-Rousillon producer Maison Maurel Vedeau. Between François Martenot and Maurel Vedeau, BVI now offers a comprehensive portfolio of French wines.
